Jarrett construction has built over 70 unique
projects since its founding in 1977, continually improving
and refining craftsmanship and design. I have designed almost
all of the projects we have built and can give you the advantage
of my experience. I first remember the joys of construction
from an early age when I built my first fort from recycled
wood at age 6. My father was a high school drafting and
government teacher and instructed me in the fundamentals
of construction and at 16 years old I helped him build our
family home. In high school I took all the shop classes
I could and enjoyed learning as many trades as possible.
As an eagle scout I learned to appreciate the outdoors and
to this day love spending time photographing nature. After
high school I was blessed to spend a year in Holland as
an exchange student, sponsored by the Rotary Club. I was
interested in studying photography so they enrolled me in
a photography school for a year where I developed a deep
passion for photography. This year was a fantastic adventure
and I also learned to appreciate many of the European construction
techniques. Upon returning to the states I went to UNR and
earned a track scholarship as a pole-vaulter and studied
business and art.
I have always been quick to try new materials and techniques
in search of better, cheaper, faster ways to build. I have
had hands on experience with all construction trades which
has given me a broad understanding as to how all the parts
and pieces fit together. Over the years I have been involved
in many local community groups. I have been a member of
the Douglas Co. Building Industry Association for 20+ years
and President for 2 years. As a member of the historical
society I donated my time to supervise the structural rehabilitation
of the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center. I served
4 years as member of the Douglas County Planning Commission
and was Chairman during the critical two-year period when
the current Master Plan was being readied for implementation.
I have two children, Jason who is studying computer science
at UNR and Breanne who loves horses and wants to be an art
teacher.
